2012 F.U.E.C.H. – General Assembly and Board Meeting in Berlin

On 20th of October 2012 the F.U.E.C.H.-Board met at Hotel Westin Grand in Berlin, followed by the F.U.E.C.H. General Assembly 2012. President Hon. Consul General Mdme. Ann-Kathrin Bauknecht (Germany) thanked the Board-Members for their various initiatives to support the Honorary Consuls in the member-associations resp. to strengthen the status of Honorary Consuls on european level. The President also welcomed very warmly the new Presidents of UCHF Hon. Consul Dr. Marc Aicardi de Saint Paul (France) and CC-Netherlands Hon. Consul Mario Bruna.

Vice-President Hon. Consul General Dr. George Suha stressed the fact, that the significant increase in appointed Honorary Consuls even in european states is a clear indicator, that due to smaller budgets the importance of Honorary Consuls for Foreign Offices is growing. Parallel to this the working conditions, rights and privileges of Honorary Consuls based on the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations should match with the increasing responsabilities and duties of Honorary Consuls. F.U.E.C.H. as the only accredited Organisation of Honorary Consuls in Europe to the European Commission will continue its successful path working on behalf of its member-organisations.

The F.U.E.C.H.-Meetings had been followed by a courtesy-invitation to all delegates of F.U.E.C.H. by the Union of the Consular Corps in Germany, which held its General Assembly 2012 at the Swiss Embassy in Berlin the same day, to attend a lunch-reception at the Embassy. The day before the F.U.E.C.H.-Delegates had been invited to join a Consul’s Dinner at the prestigious “Würth-Residence” at the Wannsee in Berlin.
