F.U.E.C.H. – Board Meeting in Valletta, Malta
On 15th of May 2014 the F.U.E.C.H.-Board met in the Knight’s Hall at Hotel Phoenicia in Valletta, Malta. President Hon. Consul General Dr. W. Breitenthaler welcomed the F.U.E.C.H. Board-Members including Hon. President Hon. Consul General A.-K. Bauknecht, who travelled from 6 European states to attend this meeting. The Board officially welcomed the Consular Corps of Malaga, Valencia as well as FENCO (Italy) as new members of F.U.E.C.H. and a.o. agreed on a new, updated Constitution for F.U.E.C.H. as well as welcomed new Board-Members. A special thank and appreciation was made towards the Dean of the Consular Corps of Malta Hon. Consul Godwin E. Bencini, who arranged in cooperation with F.U.E.C.H.-Secretariat an excellent side-programm to the F.U.E.C.H. Board Members.
On Friday 16th of May at 10.00 hrs the Board had been invited by the President of Malta H.E. Ms. Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca for an official meeting at the Grand Master’s Palace in Valletta, the office of the President, in order to inform H.E. about F.U.E.C.H. resp. to hear about the future agenda of the President in the next years for Malta. The same day the F.U.E.C.H. Board attended an official visit to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Malta H.E. Dr. George Vella, who welcomed F.U.E.C.H. in Malta and expressed his appreciation about the work and ambitions of F.U.E.C.H. as well as pointed out the importance of Honorary Consuls for Malta abroad as well as of those accredited to Malta (link to the report on the Ministry’s webpage: www.mfa.gov.mt, NEWS, 16.5.2014).
On Saturday, 17th of May, the Board had been invited for lunch at the private Residence of H.E. Ms. Marie-Louise Coleira Preca, President of Malta, at San Anton Palace.
The Board-Meeting of F.U.E.C.H. in Malta together with the official recognition availed to F.U.E.C.H. in Malta made this meeting an important success for the future work of F.U.E.C.H. to improve the status and working conditions of Honorary Consuls in Europe.
