F.U.E.C.H. – Managing Board Meeting and General Assembly 2017 in Vienna, Austria
From 19th to 22nd of October 2017 the members of the F.U.E.C.H.-Managing Board as well as the Delegates of the Member-Associations met in Vienna.
The F.U.E.C.H.-Delegates had been received at the Presidential Palace Hofburg by the Adviser for International Affairs of the Austrian Federal President Ambassador Dr. Bettina Kirnbauer as well as by the President of the local Parliament of the Federal State and City of Vienna Prof. Harry Kopietz at the Rathaus (Mayor’s Palace) of Vienna. By bus the Delegates went to a guided tour of the KWIZDA-Pharma Distribution-Center outside of Vienna, the largest and most modern Distribution Center of its kind in Central Europe.
On Friday 20th of October evening the Managing Board Meeting as well as the General Assembly of F.U.E.C.H. where held at the famous Gentlemen’s Club Wiener Rennverein in Palais Pallavicini opposite of the Imperial Palace in Vienna, followed by a Consuls Gala Dinner.
The President thanked the Board-Members and Delegates for their valuable initiatives to support the Honorary Consuls in the member-associations resp. to strengthen the status of Honorary Consuls on european level and mentioned again the excellent cooperation with the European Institutions in Brussels via F.U.E.C.H.-Vice-President HC Baron J.-J. Haus, several national and regional CC-Associations have applied for membership with F.U.E.C.H..
F.U.E.C.H. as accredited organisation of Honorary Consuls Associations in Europe to the European Commission will continue its successful path working on behalf of its member-organisations as well as to meet the wishes of newly established national consular-associations for membership with F.U.E.C.H. resp. to contribute to realisation of the goals of F.U.E.C.H..
On the occasion of the Consuls Gala Dinner at Club Wiener Rennverein President HCG Cav. Dr. Wolfgang Breitenthaler welcomed the numerous Delegates from all over Europe as well as announced the decision of the General Assembly subject an important meeting of Honorary Consuls accredited in Europe for spring 2019 in The Netherlands, organised by Secretary General HC Karin van Royen and the Netherlands Consular Corps.
On Saturday 21st the F.U.E.C.H.-Delegates went for sightseeing to the famous baroque Monastery of Melk, a special wine-tasting reception was offered by the Prior of the Monastery to the Delegates.
The most remarkable visit to the Castle of Artstetten, owned by the family of Dukes von Hohenberg, introduced the Delegates to the history of the family Hohenberg and the tragic murder of H.I.R.H. Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Habsburg-Este, then owner of the Castle of Artstetten, and his wife Sophie in Sarajewo, Bosnia & Herzegowina, in 1914, both buried in a Mausoleum at the Castle. The grand-grand daughter of the Archduke, Countess Alix de la Poeze d’Haramboure, invited the Delegates to a Cocktail-Reception to her elegant private Salons in the Castle and informed about the history and the european approach of her family today. A short piano-concert at the reception of the husband of HC Karin van Royen-Winkelman as a farewell was highly appreciated by the Countess as well as the F.U.E.C.H.-Delegates.
